30 years of the the Keane
Family at the Anchor
The Keane family
have recently celebrated thirty years of ownership at the Anchor Inn, Digbeth.
Gerry Keane, the present landlord, has successfully made the pub one of the most
famous in the Midlands.
Gerry Keane (Left) is presented with a plaque by Dave Lacey
The pub is in the historic Digbeth area, near to the Bull Ring and new East Side
developments. Although in the heart of the Irish Quarter, the Anchor is not a
contrived Irish theme pub, just a good, traditional pub.
Through hard work by Gerry and his staff the pub is enjoyed by people from far
and near, who come for the wide range of ever-changing beers and the friendly
staff and customers.
Some people can't take all the excitement of the evening.
The anniversary was marked with a weekend event which featured thirty new beers,
live music by Mick the Tick and his band (including Bob Dummons for the Wagon
and Horses, Halesowen.)
Mick 'The Tick' and friends provide the entertainment
CAMRA Birmingham Branch member Dave Lacey presented Gerry with a commemorative
plaque on behalf of branch members. We wish Gerry and family, managers Gavin and
Liza and staff Stuart, Nicola, Dean, Pauline and all many more years of success
with the Anchor.
