Awards Presented by Birmingham CAMRA
Birmingham CAMRA annually makes an award to the pub voted
as 'Pub Of The Year'. Other presentations have been made to licensees who
have given long service to a pub and shown exceptional commitment to Real Ale.
The 2005 and 2006 awards went to the
Wellington in Bennetts Hill. Nigel and his team took the award in consecutive
years against strong competition.
2004 saw the Birmingham Pub of the Year award go to the
Bartons Arms in Newtown, re-opened just the year before by Oakham ales.
The 2003 CAMRA Birmingham Pub of The
Year was the Anchor in Digbeth. The pub's licensee also received a special award
during 2003, marking 30 years of the Keane family running the pub.
The 2002 award was made to the Black
Eagle in Hockley, while in 2001, it was the Church Inn in Hockley which won the
accolade.
