Church Inn - Pub Of The Year 2001

Congratulations go to Ray and Pat of the Church Inn (Great Hampton Street, Hockley), which has been voted CAMRA Birmingham Branch PUB OF THE YEAR for 2001. The Church has appeared regularly in the Good Beer Guide since Ray and Pat moved there.

Ray previously ran the Fox in Lower Essex Street, which he made famous with his range of beers and pub food. On moving to the Church Inn, Ray kept to the same formula of excellent beers and food, so ensuring continued success. Although we're primarily concerned with the beers that Ray sells, the food side of the business is always worth mentioning, as Ray's always had a reputation for generous meals at a reasonable price. Food is available most of the time, but there is still plenty of room for those who want to enjoy the beers. The beer range features Greene King, Burton Bridge and Bathams Bitter.

The Church Inn is an attractive old-fashioned pub, and is over 160 years old. It's not far from the city centre, and is worth visiting if you've never been there before, as it's a warm and friendly local.

The Church Inn has its own website: The Church Inn
