The Anchor - Pub Of The Year 2003
The Anchor in Bradford Street,
Digbeth has won the 2003 CAMRA Birmingham Pub Of The Year award. The award was
made at a special presentation to the Licensee, Gerry Keane, on Monday 2nd
February.

Gerry has recently celebrated 30 years of his family running the pub, the last
10 years being under his ownership. It is the third time the Anchor has won this
prestigious accolade. Competition for the award has been tougher than ever this
year, with several Birmingham pubs now reaching a high standard. The Anchor is a classic, Grade II listed Victorian pub, located just outside
Birmingham City Centre, next to Digbeth Coach Station. There is an l-shaped bar,
with an unusual wooden 'snob-screen', behind which is a small bar designated a
no-smoking area. There is also a lounge at the rear and a small outdoor area.

There is a wide range of ever-changing guest beers, draught and continental
bottled beers and a real cider. There is always a warm welcome at this friendly
Birmingham Pub.
