Branch Socials 2006 Black Eagle Beer Festival The branch organised a social to the Black Eagle Beer Festival, Hockley, on Friday 14th July. The pub and its garden area were packed with thirsty drinkers on a sunny summer evening. Branch members were able to mingle with pub regulars and beer festival-goers alike in a pleasant atmosphere at this normally very quiet corner of North-West Birmingham.
There were beers from a range of breweries, including Hobsons of Cleobury Mortimer, Kinver Ales, Loddon, and Thornbridge, to name but a few. By the early evening, the new Kinver beer had sold out, but there was another available to try. There was also a selection of three traditional ciders and a Perry, chosen by our own Cider expert, Tania McMillan. Members of the Branch were staffing the bar in the garden area, while Tony the landlord and his staff served customers in the pub itself, while providing the usual excellent range of bar meals and sandwiches.
As the evening wore on, some branch members took to a seated area to enjoy the last few pints in comfort. The garden area continued to provide a good backdrop even as it got dark. It was good to see such a mix of people enjoying a tremendous evening at one of the City's top pubs. © Richard Reynolds 2006 |
