Church Inn Closed
Latest reports indicate
that the Church Inn in Hockley is now closed. There is a 'To Let' sign over the
door. This is a sad situation and we hope that this historic pub is open again
soon.

Pub Of the Year Award 2007
After a gap of several years, the Anchor in Digbeth has
again won the coveted Birmingham CAMRA Pub Of The Year Award. It is a great
achievement for Gerry Keane and his team, after running the Wellington so close
the previous year.
The pub is situated adjacent to the soon to be rebuilt
coach station in the City's Irish Quarter. Gerry's success has been based on a
constantly changing range of guest ales, good value food and a great welcome to
all. His family have run the pub for over 30 years and it continues to be a
traditional local serving the community.
This is the fourth time the pub has won the award, the last
time being in 2003. The formal ceremony took place on Thursday 17th
January. Read about it here.
