(Last Updated 23/09/2011)

Ginger's Bar and Asquith Restaurant, Newhall Street re opened on Thursday 22nd September. The bar, which was formerly known as Must, and previously the Litten Tree is now selling two rotating real ales as well as a range of continental lagers and cocktails. The intimate Asquith restaurant is being run by Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell.

The Rose Villa Tavern, Warstone Lane, Jewellery Quarter re-opened on 29th June after a refurbishment. The pub looks much cleaner and fresher and the original floors have been revealed after the removal of the carpet. Greene King IPA and Sharp's Doom Bar are supplemented by two rotating guest beers.

The Wagon and Horses, Adderley Street, Digbeth is now selling Wye Valley HPA. This traditional back street pub has not sold real ale for at least 15 years, in spite of there always being three handpulls on the bar. If the HPA sells well a second beer may be added. Adderley Street is just down the side of The Rainbow pub just off Digbeth High Street.

The Hen & Chickens, Constitution Hill has re-opened after a refurbishment. There is no real ale available at present but the landlord is very keen to introduce one soon.

The Edgbaston Tap (formerly Sir Harry's), Pershore Road has re-opened after a refurbishment. The pub now stocks Marston's Pedigree and Jenning's Cumberland along with a changing guest ale.

Just outside our branch area, the former Park Hotel, High Street, Smethwick has re-opened as JeeJee's. This run-down pub which was threatened with demolition a couple of years ago has opened as a suprebly refurbished, smart Punjabi restaurant and bar.
As well as excellent food, two real ales are stocked, which are currently London Pride and Old Speckled Hen. We are assured that these will be changing very soon for two more local or interesting beers.

The Brown Lion, Hall Street, Jewellery Quarter has recently opened and is the brewery tap for the nearby Two Towers brewery.

The Shakespeare, Summer Row has re-opened after a refurbishment as part of M&B's Nicholson's chain and there is now a more extensive range of ales on offer. The pub has been redecorated in a most traditional and sumptuous style.

The New Inns, Vivian Road, Harborne is closing for a short period for what we understand is a fairly extensive refurbishment.

The Kings Arms, High Street, Harborne which has been closed for a couple of years has re-opened. Real ale is usually on offer but currently the range is limited.

The Bell, Church Road, Harborne has recently been taken over by Stonegate pub company and is now run by Fran who is known for running the Sportsman in Harborne up until a couple of years ago. She is hoping to increase the range of real ale available.

Hennesseys bar, Allison Street, Digbeth is reported to have 3/4 real ales on offer from regional breweries.

The Globe, Manchester Street/Blews Street is now stocking one cask ale.
Two Towers beer has recently been on sale.

The Red Lion, Station Road, Erdington, is one of Birmingham's fine heritage pubs but has not sold real ale for some time. From Friday 11th March 4 real ales will be available, which will be a welcome addition to Erdington as it is currently a virtual ale desert.
