Birmingham Transport Information
Birmingham has many wonderful pubs to enjoy a few pints of quality real ale in. I'm sure we don't have to tell you about the dangers of drink driving though. Luckily the city has excellent public transport links.
Birmingham by Train
The main train station is Birmingham New Street which is located smack bang in the middle of the city centre. Alternative train stations are Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street.
The City Centre, Hockley loop and Digbeth pub crawls all begin within just a few minutes walk from all these stations.
Birmingham by Bus
The Birmingham bus network covers the entire city with regular buses running all day.
Travel West Midlands is the main bus operator of city buses. Use their Journey Planner for preferred routes and time tables.
The Midland Metro
The Midland Metro is operated by National Express and runs between Birmingham Snow Hill Station and Wolverhampton. With trams running every 5-10 minutes it is a great way to get a little further afield quickly.
Birmingham Taxis
Birmingham has many taxi companies who will drop you off at the pub. We recommend you either use a licensed black cab or book a taxi to pick you up. It is not reccommended to flag down a taxi as you will not be insured should anything happen.
Below are a list of City Centre taxi companies for you to choose from.
Victoria Cars - 0121 523 7000
St Pauls Cars - 0121 233 0303
Blueline - 0121 523 7211
TOA (Black Cabs) - 0121 427 8888
Birmingham Canals
Birmingham is famous for having more miles of canals than Venice. They add green space and vibrancy to the city. Should you be using the waterways to travel on there are many pubs sitting on the canal network for you to discover.
The waterscape website gives details of canal routes along with details information on the attractions along Birmingham canal routes.
Check our Birmingham Pubs page for a list of a few of the canalside pubs.
